Districts Announce Parents are able to obtain their instruments from any music dealer. In breaking with traditional practices where the school districts promote a favorite dealer, most districts now encourage parents to seek an instrument dealer that best meets the needs of the parent rather than the District.

Trying To Select A Musical Instrument Dealer for your Instrument Rental Needs ?

Welcome Naperville District 204 Parents

Our rental pages contain lots of valuable information about our rental program and about rental programs in general.

If you have been through this before you know a lot about this process. If this is your first time, we recommend that you read everything you can, talk to your friends and neighbors who have been through this before, and get ready for a period of confusion before the dust settles and the path to the right decision for your family becomes clear.

First, I would like to start with what is probably the most important thing to keep in mind as you go through the process of "selecting your music vendor”.

Naperville District 204 is very clear in their position regarding music vendors that have been placed on “the list”. Here is their position as quoted from their official handout at orientation.

" District 204 asked large local vendor to reply to a questionnaire to determine their ability to provide the instruments we recommend, to find about their customer service and repair program, and to determine their ability to meet a wide range of music service demands. Promotional materials are not distributed at our information nights; however their addresses and phone numbers are provided below for your convenience". Naperville Music is on that list.

The District 204 handbook goes on to say "Quinlan and Fabish Music Company has met the criteria to be selected as our preferred vendor and will deliver your instrument directly to the school. Should you plan to secure an instrument from another vendor, we ask that you refer to the section "CHOOSING AN INSTRUMENT RENTAL VENDOR" in this brochure ". "Representatives will be present at the registration to explain the rental contract and take deposits for instrument orders. The presence of Quinlan and Fabish Music Company is provided as a convenience to you; there is no obligation to rent or buy an instrument from this company".

So there you have it. You can conclude therefore that the District 204 wants you, as a parent to be free to make the best decision for your family. If you read between the lines, they might actually be encouraging you to check around to see if there is a better deal out there, and actually there is. It’s us- Naperville Music!

Did you know that some vendors do not included insurance in the prices that they are quoting for introductory periods? So what you say?

Well that could raise the introductory period cost by as much as $20. They very likely are not including it in the renewal rate either, and that could add as much as $6 per month- or over $72 per year to your cost. Is there anything wrong with that? Probably not really, but why not just include it in the price they quote you. You guessed the reason- their price would be too high.

Be prepared- you will be under some pressure to rent from the vendor who is sitting in the school. Take your time. Think about it first.

Remember, you’re about to enter into a business agreement with a vendor. Many school vendors won’t tell you the cost- until they push the paper and pen at you. There is a reason that they haven’t told you their prices. They want you to find out at the last possible minute- when you are under a lot of pressure to- just do it. Cool heads should prevail. Guess what- there are plenty of instruments. No one is going to run out.

We recommend you gather the literature from all music vendors. Then, in the peace and quiet of your home over the next few days – compare all the programs – including ours. When you are done, you will know why we have provide hundreds of instruments to District 204. Were able to accomplish that strictly by providing quality instruments at great prices.
