News From Peavey at the 2008 NAMM show.
08' Returns Peavey to Guitar Amp Dominance !
The Vypyr (pronounced Viper) Series of digital modeling guitar amps is the result of the single largest investment in R&D Hartley has ever made in a series of Guitar Amps.
The Vyper Series features WYSIWYG all analogue gain to restore the "cut", and feel missing from other units on the market. 24 digital effects, up to 5 at a time, 24 amp channel models. The Vypyr's 266Mhz 32 bit floating point dual core SHARC processor is exactly 4 times the processing power found in higher priced units from the competition, making the Vypyr series the most powerful and capable modeling amp in existence as of this writing.
Left to right the Vypyr is set up with 11 "stompbox" effects (with dual editable parameters), 24 amp channel models ( 12 epic amps with two channels modeled), 11 "rack effects" (again dual editable parameters) Gain and EQ controls (WYSIWYG), full time delay (dual editable parameters with tap tempo), and digital reverb. Add either optional Sanpera Foot Controller and you access the Wah/Volume/Pitch continuous controller, as well as the preset functions along with chromatic tuner and 30+ second looper. Despite all the incredible programmability, when you power on a Vypyr you'll find nothing but killer sounding preset, after killer sounding preset.
The model line up, and prices are as follows:
15W, 8" $99.99 30W, 12" $199.99 75W, 12" $299.99 100Wm 2x12" $499.99
Two additional models featuring 6L6 tube power amps, driven by a 12ax-7 will also be a part of this category dominating series.
60w, 12" w 2x6L6, and 1-12ax7 $449.99 120w, 2x12" w 4x6L6 and 1-12ax7 $659.99
The Sanpera 1 and 2 footcontrollers (Hindu for "snake charmer") are both all metal construction with optical pedal(s) and use an 8 pin MIDI cable.
Sanpera 1 $79.99 Sanpera II $179.99
Words can barely describe the great sound and feel of these amps. No loss of mid and high end cut from aliased out digital over compressed distortion. Killer looks (they have fangs), and great floor presents with their continuous "look at me" front panel light show.
This series will begin shipping in late May to early June, with the Tube models a month or two after that. I understand our history with introductions like this, but this is one of the largest and most focused efforts in Peavey's 43 years, and the priority on this is like NASA's lunar landing.
Peavey eXtreme Design PXD- Guitars Hardcore Rockers
Through working with the many hardcore rock acts that use our 6505 series of amplifiers, Peavey has designed a series of uncompromised guitars who's look is as hot as their sound. EMG pickups on the higher end models along with satin black finishes and aged aluminum pickguards, all add up to a series of scorching rock axes, that will be sure to gross out anyone over 25…and the customers will like it that way. Underneath the radical cosmetics lives a set mahogany slim C shaped wide neck, and great playability. All PXD guitars ship with a genuine Coffin Case, or Coffin Case "Body Bag" prices are $279.99, $399.99, $679.99, and $779.99. The top two prices are for the top of the line models, one with Kahler Trem, and the other hard tail string through. April/May delivery.
SP enclosures get tough!!
Let me take a moment to remind you that Peavey is (according to the latest Sales Tracker data) the number one highest volume supplier of Speaker enclosures in the USA. We have 6 of the top 10 selling models, and you all are to be thanked for that…so Thanks!! The renowned SP line of upscale enclosures, get a new finish we call "Hammertex". This is a glued on material finish that you would swear is a catalyzed spray on. Full steel wraparound grilles complete this makeover, the result of which is much more professional cosmetics, and much better road durability. Both the SP-118, and SP-218 also get a redesign to enhance the extremes of low end. May/June delivery on these new upgraded units. No more carpet soon!!
