LESSON
Performers and Parents,

I am so glad you have decided to perform in Naperville Music’s Student Achievement Recital.  You have worked hard with your teacher to prepare, and I am so excited to hear you perform!

I wanted to share with you some details about the event:

-Where will the recital take place?
The recital will be held in Heininger Auditorium.  Heininger Auditorium is located in Larrance Academic Center at North Central College.  The address of this building is 309 E. School Street in Naperville.  It is located on the corner of School and Brainard.  From the store, you can head south on Loomis and turn right (west) on School.  The parking lot entrance will be on your right just past the chapel (Kiekhofer Hall).  Students performing in the earlier time slots should note that parking will be tighter due to church services in the area.  You should look for available lot parking or legal street parking.   Please enter through the parking lot doors as these doors will bring you right into the lobby of the auditorium.

-Will I be able to warm-up?
If you wish to warm up before the recital, we will have a space available for you to warm up in one of the classrooms.  You may arrive as early as 20 minutes before the scheduled start time of the performance, but we ask that you do not enter any earlier than this, as we have recitals running all day.  There will be a staff member there to answer any questions you may have. We are asking all performers to arrive at the school no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to get tuned (if necessary), and lined up.

-What should I wear?
We ask that students dress nicely for the recital, as this is a performance.  The performer does need to be comfortable enough, however, to play their instrument well.  If the instrument allows, I recommend that students play their piece three times in front of a mirror in whatever they choose to wear that day.  Your clothing should not detract from your performance (tugging at clothes or excessive skin showing is a distraction to performers and audience members alike).  If you are a lady and will sit to play, slacks or long skirts are advised.  Please also keep in mind that this performance will be set on a stage, and skirts or dresses of any kind should be conservative.

-Who can come to watch me?
Seating will be tight, so we ask that you do not bring more guests than you registered for.  We do ask that all recital participants and audience members stay to enjoy the music performed by all participants scheduled in that one-hour slot, as it is distracting to performers and audience members alike when audience members leave between participants.

-How do I pay the registration fee?

The amount has already been applied to your Naperville Music lesson account.  If you are on auto-pay for lessons, it has been charged to the credit card on file.  For all other performers, you may make the payment at the counter when you pay for the next lesson cycle.

The recital will be followed by a short reception.
