Need Some Help Turning your Guitar into Cash?

Buying and selling guitars- you have some choices

  • We can purchase your guitar outright
  • We can broker your guitar
  • We can consign your guitar

Since we opened in 1974 guitars have always been a large part of our business. Gibson was one of the first product lines we had, quickly followed by Fender Guitars and amps. Thru the years we have seen many changes in the guitar market but one thing remains true- a quality guitar will always retain its value and most will actually increase in value over time.

Over the last few years we have expanded our services to our customers to acting as a conduit to bring buyers and sellers of fine guitars together. While new guitars are still the largest part of our business, the sale of used guitars has grown from an incidental event to one that takes place almost everyday.

People who are avid guitarists are always interested in all kinds of guitars. Many enthusiasts have from 2 to over 40 or more instruments. Some were originally purchased new, some purchased used. Some are in perfect condition, most have been used and they show it. Some are very old, and some are relatively new.

Some guitars have special value in the market, and some are not worth as much as you might imagine. So if you want to sell an instrument what is your best strategy?

Naperville Music can help you convert your instruments to cash by using one of our marketing programs.

The program that is best for you will be your decision, but in the end it will always be a relation between time and money. The method that brings the most money will very likely take the longest; the one that takes the shortest amount of time will most likely bring you a lower amount. Every guitar and every client is different. When it’s time to sell one of those guitars- we can help.

Here are a few options:

Sell it directly to us-

We will purchase some instruments for cash on the spot. Which instruments qualify will depend on what we have in our current inventory, what the prospects for a resale are, and other factors. We are pretty selective in the guitars we purchase directly.

Consignment-

This is probably the most popular option for selling a guitar if you are more interested in getting a higher price and are not so concerned about the time it takes.

We have a large base of thousands of guitar enthusiasts. These folks are located all over the US, Canada, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.

Using this network we can get your guitar exposure to the people who are potentially interested in purchasing guitars and do so on a regular basis.

We have good traffic in our retail store. Since we are located in Naperville, the technology center of the western Chicago suburbs, we have access to the entire Chicago retail market, as well as customers who are in our area on business.

If you decide on a consignment, we can help you establish a realistic selling price for your guitar. Of course the actual sales price is totally determined by you.

True brokerage-

If you prefer that you retain possession of your instrument at all times, but still want to sell it, then our brokerage method may be your choice. In our brokerage agreement, you will bring your guitar in for evaluation and photos, or we can arrange to have you ship it to us. Please allow for us to have your guitar for a minimum of 3-4 working days after which we will provide you with a formal brokerage agreement for your review. If acceptable we will begin our marketing efforts.
