We are looking for Yamaha, Kawai and Steinway Pianos
People frequently ask us "What is my Piano Worth"?

The answer depends on many things, and maybe not what you are thinking about. A used piano is really two things, a piece of furniture and a musical instrument. Most people think of the furniture value first. But pianos are sold to musicians not furniture dealers. The original value of most pianos start out measured by it's worth as musical instrument that is played and enjoyed. Unfortunately, over time many turn into a piece of furniture as the kids move away and the family situation changes.

Families looking for a used piano are always looking for what started out as a quality piano, still plays well, and sounds good. If they are considering a used piano, they realize that the furniture will not be perfect but it still needs to be in good condition. A piano's value as a musical instrument carries the most weight. The buyer is balancing the playability, the cost to bring it to playing condition, and finally the furniture value as they shop.

But if your piano is more than 25 years old, and was not played or maintained, it's value is probably very low.

There are a few things most people don't think of as they set their price.
The piano will need to be moved from your home to the dealer or the private buyer- and that costs hundreds of dollars.
Unless the buyer is only looking for something to put family pictures on, there will always be some costs to make it playable. Those costs include tuning, string replacement, parts replacement and final adjustments and can be considerable. Sometimes make-ready costs have to include refinishing or touch-up work.

So now you know there is no easy answer to the question "how much is my piano worth". If you have a used Yamaha, Kawai, or Steinway Piano that is less than 25 years old, the first step in finding out what your piano might be worth is to fill out our piano information form. With that information we can help you determine the value of your piano to a buyer and to a dealer like ourselves. There is no obligation to get the answer. You may decide to try to sell it yourself, rather than sell it to us. And that is OK
Our staff will be happy to walk you through an analysis of the value of your piano, just click the button and tell us more about what you have.
